182 – minor

a ball off a wire / is called dead in the air
and things happen / unpredictably
stuff falls into place
that might have been different….

struck high but not far / another ball falls
untouched from the bat / in error!
and things change / their shape, unguarded
as the fielders watch / surprised,
each confused / by the other’s movement.

we accept it;
accept what it changes / and move on that path.
we continue / heavier at heart
than – briefly – before.

unchallenged,
fate oversteps the rules of men / meaning
there is logic and a pattern / as the sequence
skips and stutters.
